As an undergraduate student, Laura was given the responsibility of organizing and cataloging her school’s music library — a task that had not even been started when it was handed to her. Laura can honestly say that she enjoyed that task and was able to glean knowledge from sorting and organizing hundreds of scores.
Laura has had a personal interest in old music since she was young and her work as the music librarian only added to her enjoyment of reading old scores. She started collecting scores in high school and has increased her collection with several goals in mind:
- save scores that would be thrown away or destroyed
- digitize said scores for future generations to enjoy
- keep American (and other) piano music from disappearing forever
- enrich my own repertoire
- enrich my own knowledge of American piano music
If you would like to help support the project, Laura am looking for donations of the following:
- old scores
- old music magazines that would highlight performers, composers, and concerts of the day
- old music history books (pre-1950’s)
