Laura Harmon offers private piano lessons online and in Knoxville, TN. Piano lessons are based on developing technical skills and an understanding of how music works. Lessons are scheduled in 30 and 60-minute increments based on the age and level of each student. Laura seeks to instill a solid music-reading ability in each student early on, so that each student can eventually pick up a piece of music and play from sight. Lessons are structured so that they are not only good for the fun-loving, can’t-sit-still, 5-year-old, but also the 82-year-old retiree. Laura makes accommodations (to the best of her ability) for all special needs students that she teaches and keeps an open line of communication with parents at all times.

Mrs. Harmon believes that each student is different and learns differently. Therefore, she seeks to vary repertoire  and methods to meet each student’s individual needs. While she start students in method books, students quickly move to student repertoire. Student repertoire increases the musical style exposure of the student and encourages the student’s pride and sense of accomplishment in performance. Students are encouraged to borrow music books from the lending library to experience even more composers and styles of composition.
